iPads and iPhones are consistently popular Christmas gift ideas – in fact, the iPad has bagged the number 1 spot for ‘most wanted technology gift’ for the third year running! And we’re sure plenty of you hope to find an iPhone 5 under the tree on Christmas morning.

But we all know Christmas can be a bit hectic, so if your new gadget should get damaged during the festivities, there’s no need to panic. Enjoy the rest of your Christmas, and then get in touch with iPhonefixed. We specialise in efficient iPhone and iPad repairs, including broken screens and water damage. Trust us, it won’t be the first time someone drops a new iPhone in a glass of sherry…

Did you know we offer more than just repairs? If you’re still shopping for the Apple lovers in your life, take a look at our range of iPhone stocking fillers. We have plenty of fun iPhone accessories that make fantastic gifts.

A sturdy case for your iPhone is a must-have to avoid damage from those inevitable bumps and scrapes. This Bumper Case costs just £1.50, and fits around the outside edge of the phone to provide protection with its rubber and plastic combination. It’s available in a variety of colours, so there’s a shade to suit all tastes.

Do you have a friend that can’t stand the on-screen iPhone keyboard? If so, the Ultra-Thin Slide-Out Wireless Keyboard is the perfect gift. The keyboard pairs with the phone using a Bluetooth wireless connection, and allows full access to a QWERTY keyboard including Search and Home buttons – no need for the touchscreen. The keyboard costs £19.00 and is powered by a lithium rechargeable battery, which is charged via a miniature USB port.

And while we’re on the subject of touchscreens, we all know how annoying it is when you can’t use your phone while wearing gloves. Luckily these Capa Touch Womens Gloves are specially designed for touch screen devices – only £5.95, and no more cold fingers!

Here’s a great gift for the office workers – give your iPhone pride of place on your desk with this Silicone Suction Ball Stand. For just £2.45 this portable iPhone holder will keep your phone on display and within easy reach at all times, and there’s plenty of colours to choose from.

Date added: 14/09/2012 iPhone 5 Announced

It was the news we’ve all been waiting for: iPhone 5. While many of the rumours that circulated before the announcement proved to be unfounded, there’s still no doubt that thousands will queue outside Apple stores when it launches on September 21st.

So, how is iPhone 5 different to its predecessors?

In some ways the new iPhone looks a lot like the 4S – but at just 7.6 millimetres thin and weighing 112 grams, it is 18 per cent thinner and 20 per cent lighter than the previous model. The width of the handset remains the same, but iPhone 5 is nearly 9 millimetres taller, with a bigger Retina screen measuring 4 inches from corner to corner. The back of the handset has also changed, now made of anodised 6000 series aluminium with ceramic or pigmented glass inlays.

The larger Retina screen is clearer and more vivid, so photos and video will look better than ever – Apple reports the new screen has 8 per cent more pixels and 44 per cent better colour saturation than the 4S.

The most exciting feature for many Apple fans is the new A6 processor, delivering CPU and graphics performance twice as fast as the previous iPhone. The battery life is also reportedly better, giving up to 8 hours of 3G browsing, 8 hours of talk time, or 10 hours of video playback. We can expect a faster Wi-Fi experience thanks to dual-band 802.11n wireless connectivity, and UK users on the EE or Three networks will benefit from 4G connectivity – but other networks will remain on 3G for the time being.

The iPhone camera is still 8 megapixels, but improvements have been made in terms of noise reduction and picture quality in low-light. iPhone 5 also includes a brand new Panorama mode, allowing you to take panoramic photographs up to 240 degrees without the need for a separate app.

As expected, the previous 30-pin connector has been replaced with a smaller ‘Lightning’ connector – but a separate adaptor will still allow the iPhone 5 to connect to previous accessories and docks. In keeping with the theme of making everything smaller and/or thinner, the SIM card has also received a size makeover: the new nano-SIM is 44 per cent smaller than its previous version.

Apple has even redesigned the ‘EarPods’ for iPhone 5. Designers studied the geometry of the ear to ensure improved comfort of the new bud headphones, as well as making improvements to durability and audio quality.

What do you think of iPhone 5? Does it live up to your expectations? Let us know at our Facebook or Twitter page. If you’re planning to upgrade to the much-anticipated new model, why not sell your old iPhone to iPhoneFixed – we’ll give you cash towards your new purchase.

And while we know you’ll take great care of your new phone, accidents may happen – so remember, if you’re ever in need of an iPhone 5 repair, iPhoneFixed will take on any issue right from the launch date. Whether it’s a broken iPhone screen, a water damaged iPhone, or simply an unknown fault – we’ve got it covered.

Date added: 26/07/2012 DIY iPhone Repairs

If you’ve got a talent for technology and love a bit of DIY, you may be tempted to fix your broken iPhone yourself. Why send it away for repairs when you’ve got the skills to do it at home? DIY repairs are not for everyone, but if you’re confident in your ability, it can be a more cost effective option that shortens the time you’re without a phone.

But before you take on any DIY iPhone repair, you need to make sure you’re prepared. Here are our top tips for making sure it all goes smoothly…

Follow instructions

You may think you know what you’re doing, but a trial and error strategy isn’t advisable when dealing with a gadget as precious as your iPhone. Guesswork may result in further damage, so find some clear instructions and read them thoroughly before you begin. There are plenty of websites offering guidelines, or search YouTube for video tutorials if you work better with visual aids.

Take your time

Of course you want your iPhone back in working order as quickly as possible, but rushing leads to mistakes that could be more costly to fix – or may even leave your iPhone irreparable. Take care, double check each step before you do it, and don’t take any risks or short cuts. A perfect repair may take a few hours, so always set aside enough time to finish the job properly.

Ensure you have the correct equipment

Collect everything you need before you start. If you’re working from a video, watch it through at least once prior to the repair and make sure you have all the required equipment. You don’t want to get halfway through a fix before realising you don’t own a vital tool.

Use high quality parts

Your technical skills are only as good as the parts you use. Cheap parts may not work correctly, or only last a limited time – they may seem like a way to save money, but the low quality could prove more costly in future. For long term success, always choose high quality iPhone parts from a trustworthy source so you know your phone will be as good as new. iPhoneFixed offers high quality and original Apple iPhone parts to help you achieve the perfect repair.

Feel confident enough to proceed? Good luck with your repair! But if you’d still rather let a professional do it for you, just send it off to iPhoneFixed – we guarantee a perfect fix.

colour iPhone

The world is full of trendsetters – those people who can effortlessly turn heads through their own unique style. But if you love to make a statement, you needn’t stop at fashionable clothes and a flashy car. You carry your phone everywhere, so why let it fade into the background?

A standard iPhone may only come in black or white, but that doesn’t mean you’re stuck in a world of monochrome. A colourful iPhone case is the simplest option, but for real impact, try an iPhone colour conversion. The entire screen, back panel and home button will be exchanged for a brand new colour – perhaps red, pink or blue – and your revamped gadget is sure to be a real showstopper.

But how do you choose the best colour for you? Studies have shown that colours can have be a big influence on our mood, emotions and the way we behave, so we’ve explored the meanings of the most popular shades... which will you choose for your phone?

·      Red is the colour of love and passion. It is believed to symbolise emotional intensity, so surrounding yourself with the colour red will increase your energy and enthusiasm to take action. Need a burst of confidence? Try a red iPhone colour conversion.

·      Blue is a calming colour, symbolising loyalty and peace. Studies have shown that people have improved communication skills and become more productive when around the colour blue – so use a blue iPhone to give your work life a boost!

·      Pink is a tranquil colour that helps feelings of relaxation and contentment. Carrying a pink iPhone tells the world you’re happy and satisfied, as the colour is said to promote self-worth and diffuse feelings of negativity.

·      Green promotes the capacity to learn – psychologists have discovered that green helps people to accept change, grow and improve. Choosing green for your iPhone colour change shows your ambition to pursue new ideas and desire to succeed!

·      Yellow is a colour for attention-getters. It symbolises optimism, creative energy and wisdom. Surrounding yourself with yellow helps you make good decisions without panic or nerves – so pick up a yellow iPhone and show the world how great you feel!

While many people love the idea of a bright and colourful new iPhone, some of you may still prefer the traditional black or white. If you fancy swapping your iPhone to the opposite end of the monochrome spectrum, here’s what your choice says about you…

·      Black is seen as stylish and timeless with an air of mystery. It is the colour of power and authority – so your black iPhone tells the world that you’re in charge and prepared for whatever your day throws at you.

·      White symbolises innocence and purity, and is used to help mental clarity. Surrounding yourself with white can assist with clearing clutter and starting afresh. A white iPhone says you’re open-minded.

Date added: 11/07/2012 iPhone 5 Rumours

iPhone 5 render

Even the most careful iPhone users can’t avoid the risk of an accident. A cracked iPhone screen remains to be the most common form of damage, and plenty of iPhones are dropped into a toilet or bath every single day. But some interesting claims made to insurance companies reveal that not all iPhone accidents are quite so run-of-the-mill…

A fall from any height may result in a broken iPhone, but the person who dropped theirs during a hot air balloon ride can’t have expected to find it in one piece. We understand wanting to take a photo of the beautiful scenery, but we suggest holding on a bit tighter when you’re hundreds of feet above the ground – also useful advice for the man that let go of his iPhone during a naked skydive. Apparently he dropped the phone while attempting to take a photo of himself during the experience (although that’s not what we meant when we said ‘beautiful scenery’…)

While most people won’t be adventurous enough for a nude skydive, you don’t even need to leave the house to put your precious gadget at risk. Surveys show that iPhones have been dropped into food blenders, accidentally buried in the garden, and one met a sticky end when the “juice from a defrosting piece of meat” leaked into the phone. And although a water damaged iPhone is an extremely common complaint, one Apple fan found a rather unique cause when his phone fell into a boiling kettle – it seems the kitchen is a hazardous place for an iPhone.

Many people like to place the blame with others, whether it’s the pet dog that chewed his owner’s phone to pieces, or the parents in need of an iPhone repair after their son used the device as a table tennis racket. Another iPhone was accidentally buried while children made sandcastles at the beach, proving that gadgets are even prone to accidents while on holiday.

Leaving an iPhone on the roof of a car so that it falls off while driving is a particularly common mistake, but the man who claimed his phone “flew out of the car window” had a more original take. It seems that his phone slid across the dashboard and out of the window while he turned a corner, but a busy road is still no place for a phone. Just ask the unlucky person who dropped theirs under the wheels of a bus.

Regardless of how it happens, any damage to your iPhone is upsetting and inconvenient. For efficient iPhone repairs or high quality parts to fix it yourself, visit iPhoneFixed.co.uk. But remember to leave your phone at home the next time you go skydiving.
